(syllabus)
LEARNING OBJECTIVES The course aims to provide students with the fundamental elements of the economic policy choices made over time, as well as the problems related to the development of local economic systems,both national and international.
COURSE CONTENTS The course program covers the economic transformations that have been recorded since the eighteenth century to the present day, grouped into three periods which coincide with the corresponding stages of the industrial revolution. Argu-ments covered are: - Growth, development, economic cycles and characters of feudal system (2 lessons) - The first industrial revolution: preconditions (3 lessons) - The first industrial revolution and its problems (2 lessons) - The first industrial revolution in other countries (1 lesson) - The second industrial revolution: general characteristics and production activities (2 lessons) - UK, USA and Italy (2 lessons) - WW 1 and its economic and financial effects. The planned economy in the Soviet Union (2 lessons) - The crisis of '29 and the Great depression of the Thirties (2 lessons) - The third industrial revolution: general characteristics and economic development (2 lessons) - From the Golden age to globalization (2,5 lessons) - The European and Italian Economies (2 lessons) - The end of the planned economy (1,5 lessons)
