Learning objectives for the achievement of the intended learning outcomes Course objective is: - train the student conceptually and methodologically in the area of applications of behavioral and cognitive psychology, such as in the areas of cognitive aging; - provide skills suitable for cognitive rehabilitation, therapeutic and rehabilitative interventions aimed at the person and behavioral and cognitive enhancement of the person.

Course Program. The course aims to provide an overview of the subject with specific insights into some particularly relevant aspects and the methodologies and techniques for practical application of the subject in its spillover contexts. 1. Introduction to the psychology of aging and methodological and statistical aspects 2. The aging brain: Changes in intelligence and memory 3. Basic cognitive mechanisms and visuospatial abilities in aging 4. Emotional-motivational aspects and metacognition 5. Successful and active aging: The cognitive reserve 6. The psychological assessment of the elderly person 7. Psychopathologies and dementia 8. Intervention programs
Knowledge and comprehension skills in terms of expected outcomes (Dublin descriptor #1) The student will be expected to. - possess basic knowledge of mental functioning and behavior in adults; - acquire the theoretical and methodological foundations of psychology important for the continuation of professional training in Master's degrees; - have knowledge of the fundamentals of psychology.
Competencies in order to apply knowledge and understanding in terms of expected outcomes (Dublin descriptor No. 2) The student should be able to know - Evaluative processes, with the use of fundamental tools for evaluating cognitive processes
- Collaborate in projects, possibly also promoted by other disciplines, that have goals involving the person's quality of life - Know how to conduct cognitive training aimed at promoting the use of the person's optimal cognitive resources - Carry out clinical rehabilitation activities of the person.
