The course aims to introduce the fundamental concepts of the measurement of psychological variables. The main objective is the acquisition of the methodology and statistical techniques necessary for the adequate development of a psychological test and for the verification of its validity and reliability Specific objectives: 1. the acquisition of knowledge and skills in design 2. the acquisition of knowledge and skills in the development, validation and administration of psychological tests, 3. the acquisition of knowledge and skills in empirical verification of the adequacy of the validity and reliability of a psychological test, 4. the acquisition of knowledge and skills in diagnosis such as decision making, Bayesian statistics and diagnostic use of tests, with particular focus on cognitive domains in adulthood and aging Program: 1. Psychological tests as measuring instruments 2. How to write test items 3. Preliminary evaluation of test items 4. Assessment of the reliability of a test 5. Dimensionality and validity of the test 6. Interpretation and standardisation of scores 7. Reasoning and probability in the diagnostic process 8. Psychological assessment for adult and elderly people
