LEARNING OBJECTIVES 1.Knowledge of the historical process of formation of private law in Europe, also in the light of social and economic changes 2. Knowledge of the genesis and evolution of the institutes of Roman private law 3. Knowledge of the tradition of Roman private law and the mechanisms of its reception in the legal systems of European countries during the Middle Ages and the modern age, also in relation to canon law and the iura propria 4. Knowledge of the origins of European legal science 5. Knowledge of influence of Roman law on modern codifications. 6. Knowledge of current trends for the development of a common European law
