(syllabus)
The program of the course focuses on the following topics: 1) Historical evolution of psychiatry: models and schools of thought, definition and tasks of psychiatry; 2) The nosography and diagnosis in psychiatry: the ICD-10 system and the DSM-5. Elements of general psychopathology; 3) Psychiatric interview and psychodiagnostic evaluation; 4) The psychiatric clinic and the main psychiatric disorders (mood disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, stress and stress-related disorders, somatoform disorders and dissociative disorders, schizophrenia and schizophrenic spectrum disorders, delirium and psycho-organic syndromes, psychic disorders secondary to physical diseases, other disorders of medical interest - eating disorders, disorders from use of substances of abuse; 5) personality disorders; 6) interventions in psychiatry: psychopharmacological interventions (anxiolytics, antipsychotics, antidepressants, mood stabilizers, memoryenhancers), psychotherapeutic and psychosocial; 7) organization of mental health services and assistance in psychiatry: hospital and emergency psychiatry, community psychiatry, residential and semi-residential structures, consultation and liaison psychiatry; 8) outline of bioethics and clinical ethics applied to psychiatry and outline of psychiatric legislation. At the end of the course the student will be provided with sufficient knowledge to enable him / her to direct his / her professional activity in the most appropriate way to his / her skills.
