COURSE CONTENTS
The selection of topics is aimed to provide a core of statistical knowledge, useful for applications in several disciplines, particularly in the economic and legal sciences, and specifically for using statistical methods in the field of economic studies. Many topics are intended to the analysis and synthesis of information regarding economic and social phenomena, trying to lead the student to have the control of these tools, from an operational point of view in applications, but also from a theoretical point of view. The target is that of stimulating the discussion and the exercise of critical capability. To this end particular attention is paid to errors of interpretation coming from a superficial application of statistical analysis tools. This should allow the student to acquire the first necessary bases for the statistical evaluation of the propositions advanced by economic theory about the explanation of relationships between variables of interest.
